First some General Info about pottery classes at Pine Ridge :
All classes are here at the Studio which is at 6114 Carp Road, Kinburn Ont. K0A 2H0. It’s a long driveway, you won’t see the Studio from the road!
Due to the continuing Covid-19 concerns, classes will be limited to 5 students, we will wear masks, and we will be careful about hand washing.
All materials and firing are included. Fees are normally paid at the first session. I take cash, cheques, credit and debit cards and e-transfers!
To register for any class, just contact me.
I have had a great many requests for classes lately. It’s probably mostly because all the City-run pottery studios have been closed due the pandemic. Hopefully, they will be re-opening this fall. If not, take a look at Hintonburg Pottery or Almonte Potter’s Guild. Both run excellent classes and I believe they are open. As for Pine Ridge pottery classes, here’s the plan:
- Beginner’s Class: Tuesday evenings, 7 to 9pm. $60, 6 sessions, all materials and firing included. You’ll learn basic techniques such as making a small pinch pot, and get a chance to try a variety of ways of making something from clay. This is an introduction to clay only and concentrates on hand-building. It does not include using the potter’s wheel because I have only 2 wheels and that isn’t enough to accommodate more than 2 students. This will start on September 14th and run until October 19. Class will be limited to 5 students.
- Projects Class: Thursday evenings, 7 to 9pm, $15 per session. You will choose your own project. Most pottery projects take at least 2 sessions, one to make the work, and one to decorate/glaze it. (After that you will need to come to pick up your finished work, but that doesn’t count as a session.) Some projects will take more than 2 sessions: you will know how many sessions once you plan your project. All materials, within reason, and firing are included. Working on the wheel can be a project, but only 2 or possibly 3 people will be able to do that. For this class you will need at least some pottery skills. Starts Sept. 16 and will continue through to October 28. Class will be limited to 5 people per session, but this may vary.
To register for either type of class, please contact me. If you have a specific project in mind and know how many sessions you are likely to want, please let me know. Scheduling is going to be tricky!
